Purlpaw's wild ride

Sine I am now a full-time employee I am commuting via metro most work days.

My trips into and back from downtown are a challenge. I catch the bus right by my apartment and usually take that line to a transfer station to get on the rail going downtown. It’s then a 10 to 15 minute walk (on a good day) in the tunnels coming up just across the street from the archive. My hours are usually 9 to 6. At 6 I walk above ground to the rail station. Reversing my morning route.

At present the trip home is worst since it gets dark so early during winter. Weather will also add to the delights of commuting from time to time. In a future entry I’ll explains what happens when I work late on Wednesdays or have Saturday duties.

The last week or so I have been so worn out with the commute. I get a bit nervous around some of the people I travel with. especially those by the rail station. I hear a lot of what was referred to as ‘street language’ by my family, as well as public spitting, and rather alarming behavior. I am hoping that once I get an eye problem cleared up I might be more comfortable driving into work. But for now I just repeat the mantra – “I have a job, I have a job” – and turn up my radio. (FYI - too much bumping about to safely knit on the bus)
